The covenant Christ made for us through His blood, in symbol at the first communion and in practice at the cross, is the central point of the entire Bible.  The only covenant we are familiar with today is the marriage covenant and even that is rarely understood as a covenant.  The New Testament is a blood covenant initiated through the blood of Christ.  The Bible is split into two sections, the Old Testament and New or old covenant and new.  Without understanding the nature of covenants, we cannot truly understand the framework of the Bible.  Covenant provides the framework for understanding and integrating the most important biblical doctrines, like the blessings of the covenant, how to avoid the curse, the reason for dying to self, and ultimately, how to enjoy genuine union with God.  The Exchange is written in short, devotional-length chapters, which can be used for daily or meditational reading.
